15.jpgPlease join the Penn Club of Western Pennsylvania for brunch on Sunday, February 21, 2010 to celebrate Ben Franklin's 304th birthday and his greatest achievement: the founding of the University of Pennsylvania!

Appropriately enough, we are honored to have as our speaker Penn’s own Professor George Thomas, coauthor of Building America’s First University: An Historical and Architectural Guide to the University of Pennsylvania.

Professor Thomas' lecture topic will be: "Ben's University": How Franklin Transformed American Education and How Penn Remains True to His Values.

Professor Thomas earned his Ph.D at the University of Pennsylvania. His specialties are in Urban Design and Historic Preservation. He also worked directly on the restoration of the William Penn Hotel as well as the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh. His wife is a native of nearby Latrobe, Pa.

Catch up with old friends and make new ones at a scrumptious brunch at the Allegheny HYP Club in downtown Pittsburgh.
