Join fellow Ivy alumni at the annual Penn Club's Summer Tailgate and Pirates Game at PNC Park on Sunday, August 12th, 2012. Those who have attended in the past know this is a great get-together to reconnect with friends, make new ones, and have a really good time.
This year again, we'll also be doing a good deed at the same time, by accepting canned and dry non-perishable goods for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (www.pittsburghfoodbank.org). If interested (completely voluntary!!) just bring any canned good(s) or non-perishable item(s) with you to the tailgate. Recommended items include high fiber cereals, jars of peanut butter, canned tuna, beans, pasta, or canned fruits & vegetables.
Pirates vs. San Diego Padres
Sunday, August 12th, 2012
Tailgating begins at 11:30 a.m.
Pirate Game begins at 1:35 p.m.
Look for the Red & Blue balloons located in the RED parking lot on General Robinson Street, across from the Park. (We hope to reserve a spot under the overpass in case of rain). Come for the high grade, high quality burgers & hot dogs, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and organic fare. We'll have fresh fruit, healthy snacks, soda, beer, and more too, then head over to PNC Park to cheer the Pirates on to victory (as the philosopher Frank Sinatra once sang "We've Got High Hopes..."...especially after reaching first place during the miraculous first half of the season!).
Please purchase your tickets as soon as possible; due to very high demand, there are a limited number of tickets available this year.

*For those fans of old movies, this year seems that there are indeed "Angels in the Outfield", the title of a 1951 film that featured the Pittsburgh Pirates on the receiving end of a helpful presence (the 1994 remake featured the then California Angels, now Los Angeles Angels). Some may believe that the 1960 World Champion Pirates saw some of the same at 3:37 p.m. on October 13th, 1960. If you have any questions, you can head out to the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, where a remaining piece of the Forbes Field outfield wall still stands, near the Forbes Quadrangle on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. If you arrive at 3:37 p.m. on any October 13th, a crowd will be there to join you...listening...
