The University of Pennsylvania Alumni Club of Western Pennsylvania will be sponsoring a walking tour of of the Cultural District (Penn & Liberty Avenues area) in downtown Pittsburgh, hosted by Anne Robb, Ph.D, a seasoned Docent with the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation (www.phlf.org). The Tour will begin promptly at the Agnes R. Katz Plaza located at 7th Street and Penn Avenues in downtown Pittsburgh (http://www.pgharts.org/art/katz.aspx). See the place where dance, music, theater, and more, come to life. We will learn about the vision and development of this unique social, artistic, and community asset. We also will learn about the origins and specialties of the city's arts venues. They play host to the best of the performing arts as well as exhibitions, from around the world, the country, and the region.

Following the tour, there will be an option to head out to a nearby lunch venue at 12:30 p.m. (lunch cost not included in tour).

Parking is available at the Theater Square Parking Garage (entrance on 7th Street; GPS Address: 120 Seventh StreetPittsburgh, PA15222), or the Sixth (Street) and Penn Parking Garage on that corner (entrance facing Penn Avenue: GPS Address: 542 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, 15222).

There are additional surface lots and parking garages nearby (http://www.alcoparking.com/index.html). There is also regular bus service from city neighborhoods/Allegheny County and light rail (the T)/subway from some of the suburbs to downtown Pittsburgh: Information for Both Bus and the T Line: http://www.portauthority.org/paac/RiderServices/Riding101.aspx

WHEN10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 22nd, 2011. Please plan to arrive on time. The tour departs promptly at 11:00 a.m. 

WHERE: Starting at the Agnes Katz Plaza, located on the corner of 7th Street and Penn Avenue (Entrances on both 7th Street and Penn Avenue). Tour to cover the Penn and Liberty Avenues area. We will gather specifically at the Agnes Katz Plaza centerwhere there is a 25-foot bronze fountain featuring a gently sloping, peripheral spiral channel for water to trickle down around the sculpture. It was designed by Louise Bourgeois.

HOW:

Registration and Pricing 
$15 per person for Penn and Wharton Club Members and their guests (up to 3 per member)
$20 per person for other Ivy League alumni and their guests
